Acne Skin Care Tips

Essential oils for acne work, but use caution. You only need one or two drops per 50 ml of of base, and some oils are stronger than others. But let’s get started with acne skin care tips:

Acne Treatment

Any acne treatment should include a healthy life style for skin. Whether you have acne, acne scars, rosacea, whatever, your acne cure starts with a healthy lifestyle.

Before you invest in acne products, look at your lifestyle for ways to avoid acne in the future. (I know…this is your mother speaking!!) Look at your water intake. Are you drinking enough water each day? How about your 5 servings of fruits and veggies? Sleep – are you getting enough? What about coffee and alcohol?

It’s funny. My mom suffered from horrible acne. So with my first pimple came a visit to the dermatologist. Really. I was using top of the line acne products from age 15 on. But really, nothing helped (and this is still true even in my 40s) until I took care of the basics. It always comes back in times of stress, or when I’m eating crap or not sleeping enough.

Acne Skin Care Tips

Last thing! When you do have acne, remember to treat your skin extra carefully (even though, if you’re like me, it’s easy to hate your skin in those moments!!)

  • Don’t use anything harsh
  • Don’t squeeze or pinch or anything like that
  • Don’t try to exfoliate them away
  • Do keep your skin clean
  • Do drink extra water
  • Do use very soft cloths to clean skin

Finally, This advice is just that: advice. I am not a doctor. Use common sense. If you do have acne that is more severe than a mild breakout (a few pimples or blackheads), please seek proper medical advice. There is a lot of conflicting and, often, misguided information out there about acne and essential oils. Use caution and common sense. Never forget that essential oils are strong and can cause strong allergic reactions if overused.
