Orange Essential Oil
Orange Oil
Orange oil is the one you reach for to clean your house and create an uplifting, happy atmosphere. Cheap, available and practical, this ain’t neroli, but it works. As this confused me when I first got started learning about essential oils for my health and beauty, I have created a page dedicated to the orange oils, which goes through neroli, mandarin, bergamot and orange and explains their differences. You may want to check it out, if you are confused between them.
Orange is a great scent, though. It is readily available, inexpensive, and useful. It is an extraction from the peels of the fruit, and is actually a byproduct of juice making.
It is way way less harmful than some cleaning products on the market, but you should still use caution with this oil. It is a powerful, effective house cleaner for a reason.
In a traditional Japanese wintertime bath, bathers float oranges in the water to make use of the warming, relaxing, sleep inducing scent.
The top uses are:
1. Warming scent. Creates a happy, welcoming, warm atmosphere
2. Housecleaning. This is so well documented that you can find many commercial house cleaning products with it in them.
3. May be helpful in a tummy massage to help with digestion.
