Peppermint Oil
Peppermint is one oil I have learned to love through my son. This grows so well that people often caution about it, using borders and other methods to hinder its growth. I’m not a gardener, so suffice it to say that I have this herb growing in my garden, and it hasn’t died yet, so that says something!
This oil has amazing balancing properties. I noticed this myself when I began using it for my eldest son to help him sleep. He hates lavender, but loves the smell of peppermint…it turns out that this oil is “hard to pin down” according to Tisserand, in The Art of Aromatherapy.
Top ten uses:
1. Relieves headaches. Rub on temple with lavender…works fast!
2. Relieves stomach upset.
3. In large doses, it can be sedative
4. Good for a dry cough
5. Mosquito repellent…it also repels flies and ants….you get the idea…insects!
6. Insect bites and stings
7. Bad breath
8. In very small doses, good for skin irritation…this one can be tricky, though, because too large of a dose can irritate
9. Uplifting, increases mental alertness without increasing heart rate!
10. Mojitos! Just kidding : )
